Default bad gas milelage

I posted a similar thread in the past but I have more info now as I have driven the car more. My gas light just came on and I have gone 250.7 miles. I expect 300 miles out of the car so something isn’t right. I haven’t hit VTEC and have driven the car mainly on the highway.

The car has 62K and is a 01 AP1. It has an aftermarket intake but other than that it’s all stock. I’m going to change the plugs as I know those haven’t been done but anyone have any ideas or things I could look at to see what’s going on??

I would use a bottle of Chevron Techron on your next fill up. Are you running the a/c hard?

What's the actual MPG? Miles per tank really doesn't help much. The gauge and the light aren't consistent enough to really mean anything.

You might/maybe/could get another 50 miles out of it AFTER the light comes on. I'm pretty sure that there is more than one gallon left and maybe closeer to two.

That doesn't sound too far off...when I first started driving my S, it seemed I only got about 250-260 miles a tank. I now have it closer to 300 miles after figuring out the game of mpg with the S. As stated earlier, get the amount of gas put in and use that to figure out mpg which is a better representation of fuel efficiency.

Got a smartphone? Get an app to track your fill-ups and find out what your actual MPG is. Miles per tank really doesn't mean much. I started using an app called RoadTrip when I got to Germany and was surprised at how bad my milage was. But hey, I didn't buy the car to get good milage, I bought it to enjoy. I was averaging 20-24 city/26-30 hwy in the states.

I really like this app. It allows me to input liters and kilometers but will calculate as MPG. You can really do a lot with it.

Or if you don't have a smart-phone

Just be honest on how much gas you put in and the miles driven.
