everything is unplugged and it is still shorting out. This wire doesn't have anything to do with the injector harness does it?

Connector C404 under the dash separates 1/2 the circuit. The cruise switch, gauge assembly, 02 sensors and alternator are after the C404 connector. if the fuse blows with this unplugged the short is in the other 1/2.

This is going to be difficult for you to figure out without a wiring diagram. Go to a dealer and get them to photocopy page 10-6 from the 00-04 ETM. Also get the pages for photo 65, 68, 69, and 76.

Push in on the lock tab and pull like a not so-girly man

alright got it separated. It is in the middle of a threeway sandwich and the tab is on the firewall side not the easiest clip to get to in the car.

Anyway. I disconnected it and put in a 10amp fuse hooked the battery up turned the key and bam nothing happened so I am gonna have to look into whats on that circuit that may be causing it.

I don't have cruise anymore, or the o2 sensors so if you can give me a hint as to what wires those are I can clip them and see if that takes care of the short.

pretty please.

Don't cut anything.. There is no need to hack a wire harness apart trying to find a dead short to ground.

The next plug to unhook is C101. plug back in C404, and unplug C101. If the fuse still blows the short is to the cruise unit or cluster.

If the fuse doesn't blow the short is going to the 02's and the alternator.

Since you've had the engine out of the car and you've most likely cut or pinched the engine harness somewhere.

You've already done 1/2 the diagnosis. The short is between C101, and both the 02 sensor plugs/alternator plug. Since you've unplugged the sensors that isn't the cause. I'd be checking the wire harness going to the 02's on top of the trans. Pretty easy to pinch between the firewall and the bellhousing.

Alright I didn't have the ELD hooked up during the fuse check and once I plugged it in the fuse popped. c404 was plugged in and it was fine but as soon as I plugged in 101 it popped.
ELD plugged in + 404 = fine
ELD plugged in + 101 = short

The ELD is powered before the C404 connector. The short will still be after C101.
