B1421 Baldwin Oil Filter -- Seems Good!
Has anyone else tried the Baldwin B1421 Oil Filter?
After hearing about the poor quality of the OEM Oil Filter I purchased a half dozen Baldwin Oil Filters to use on our CRV and S2000 through the following link:
http://www.adiesel.com/automotive.php?PHPS...88ae39e847684d1
I have previously used Baldwin Oil Filters on a vintage Ferrari with excellent results, as they are considered the absolute best oil filters on ferrarichat.com
Well, I just installed a B1421 on our CRV and it seems good, another 500 miles to go until the S2000 gets one.
Both get Mobil1 oil...
Kind Regards,
Chris from RI

Apparently well known for industrial use, I had not heard of them before. Their web site certainly promotes the designs as top notch and the price when purchased by the case is good. Maybe we can send one to Todd to cut open and compare to other filters.

I had never heard of Baldwin oil filters before I read the overwhelmingly favorable posts on ferrarichat.com. Baldwin oil filters seem to be primarily used for trucks, tractors, and heavy equipment. I now agree that they seem about the best available oil filter for F-cars -- as these cars have very demanding needs for oil filters (e.g.: very high engine oil pressure, internal standpipe to prevent drainback, large volumetric area).
I recently saw a case firsthand where an internal part from a Fram oil filter came out of the filter and lodged in an oil passage of an 8 cylinder F-car engine, causing oil starvation to the top of the engine. This quickly caused the loss of a head and its cams due to non-lubrication of the cams. It is amazing how an inexpensive part like an oil filter can cause so much damage to an engine. For perspective, a replacement engine for that car costs more than a complete new S2000 automobile. Everyone I know is now shying away from Fram filters (previously the Fram 2804-1 was widely used in F-cars) and is now using the OEM UFI oil filter (Italian filter company) or the Baldwin oil filter (US filter company) in their F-cars.
I would be willing to donate and send one of my Honda size Baldwin B1421 oil filters to whomever is sawing them open for comparison with the other oil filters -- for the benefit of the group's overall knowledge about oil filters for our S2000s. Just PM me the shipping information.

I'd be willing to take apart the filter and compare it to the other OEM sized Honda filters we've been taking a look at.
Current pictures of the internals of the filters can be found here:

If you are intersted in sending me one of the baldwin filters for inspection, please PM me.

I am using a Baldwin filter and seems fine, and the price is right too!
