great thread, im planning on doing this this weekend without actually removing the halfshafts.
Can anyone tell me if an impact wrench is required for the bolts on the bearing housing? Or will the old breaker bar work, i just think it might be kind of tough with so little room to manouver down there.

I looked up the torque specs on those bolts a while back, and if I remember correctly they're 60 lb-ft. More than a typically sized ratchet will work for unless you're a gorilla, but a breaker bar should handle it easily enough.

According to the TSB, this only affects MY00's through MY02's. Why wouldn't it affect cars after that...
...they make it seem like they fixed the problem on MY03's and later, but that doesn't seem to be the case since Billman had to fix an MY03 with vibration.
How about the MY04's and up? Are they under the same risk of developing the problem?
