whatever the technical name for the shifter islink to picture
i want to take the bushing off (the yellow ball thingy) and try to replace it onto my axial SS (i'm assuming that might eliminate the excessive vibrating/humming from the gearbox when on 4krpm)

Warm it up in hot water or it will break.
You have to pop if off.
Something like this:

Again.. warm it up!

and try to replace it onto my axial SS (i'm assuming that might eliminate the excessive vibrating/humming from the gearbox when on 4krpm)
Are you sure the diameter on the SS is small enough (or close to OEM size) so that it will not break?
Yes.. warm it up before popping in on.

Use a lot of EP grease.
On both bushings.

Succes.

I would recommend:

Heat up the Axialflow shifter till it melts into a pool of metal.

Then re-install the stock shifter. That thing is the worst product I've ever put in an s2k, aside from the Omni qiik master cyl.

But if you really want to, as stated, soak it in hot water for a few minutes.

The OEM are nylon. The axial may have some plastic junk on it.

Correct me if I'm wrong... it seems like you are not a great fan of the Axialflow shifter.

At first, I thought the guy was getting a phone call on his rotary telephone. I then realized it was the shifter ringing It literally sounds like the trans is coming apart, even after attempting to damp it with rubber collars and stuff.
