Auto shop
I'm sure most of you guys never considered taking auto shop but I love working on cars especially my s2k and am thinking about taking auto shop for fun.
Do you guys think it's worth the while to take auto shop at a JC or some vocational school? I mean I can change oil, done some tune-ups and brake pad changes (not on the S yet), helped my brothers lower their cars and such but I really would like to know more.
Also has anyone taken auto shop before? I was wondering if they make you use your own vehicle or is it all lectures?
Thanks for any advice you guys can give!

If you have the means go for it. I didn't have the money after HS to go to UTI or I would be in Orlando right now. Now I'm in community college doing something that is only half my calling. Money sucks.

what i did was go out and buy the text that would be used for an autotech class. (cost around $130 i believe, it was 3 years ago). then read the book in my spare time. Just so when i actually take an autotech course once i get my chem degree, it will be review. just a thought.

i think the best thing right now is to be able to use an OBDII scanner, and be able to fix electrical, because most mechanical problems will be fairly obvious, but electrical problems are often times very tricky.

for body and paint work, it would be good to take the classes. as far as learning mechanical work, the shop manual(s) tell you everything you need to know.
