Default ARRRG! Help?

so, come back from work, driving hard to take the edge off. come home, eat, decide to check oil level. needs some topping off...

tightening the oil cap (regular pressure) and it splits! WFT? I take it out carefully and notice a 2mm or so piece is missing. look around. only thought is that it fell in the cylinder head. sh*t? any ideas? do I need to take to a shop, take apart the head to find that tiny bit of plastic? guess I won't drive it till I get the answer

this happen to anyone before? guess I need to NOT buy a plastic replacement when the time comes

remove the valve cover and see if you find the pieces there.

it was the oem cap. basically the lower thread portion remained in the head while the cap portion split off. POS!

any tricks to removing the valve cover?
