AP2 vtec should be lower

When I lived in Arizona Boofster (Ivan) gave me a ride in his 06 I beieve. He said 06 and up have flashable ECUs now.
Well He has Intake, Mugen exhaust and the flash. I believe his VTEC Kicked in at 4800 now. When he gave me a ride his S2K would not stop pulling from that point on. So smooth and definitely felt faster then mine. I was simply stunned at his performance gain.
Knowing my self I doubt every single thing in bolt on mods. But after being in his car I WISH I had an 06 and could get such improvement from just an ECU flash.

My v-tec is set at 4000rpm with 85% throttle or more, according to Gilee, my increased flow allow me to lower my v-tec and gained healthy mid-range tq to redline.

So what we need is someone with a stock AP2 (04-05), a Buddy Club V-Con controller, and a dyno, where they can adjust VTEC down on back to back dyno runs and see how thepower band changes, say from stock 6k, 5.5k, 5k.
Correct?
Correct?

I have a hunch that honda left the vtec point at 6k for AP2 to save the drivetrain (e.g. diff problems, weak pressure plate). That way, even when running to redline, for most drivers, it drops out of vtec during the 1-2 shift, and briefly during the 2-3 shift.

Completely agree. The F22Cdoes need a lower VTEC switchover. If you dont shift a redline, you will fall out of VTEC..

Thread Starter
well I see this thread is back from the dead.
Turns out Hondata has a reflash now that assuming you have a well flowing header and exhaust you can get the reflash done and enjoy VTEC from 4800 to 8600. Freaking the best news EEVER.
I actually own an 06 now so you better believe i'll be doing the reflash and enjoying my ap2 the way it should have been designed by Honda from the get go.
