I've got an '04 trans in my '02. With the 4.3 differential, its a great combination. Like the earlier post said, the output flange is different, so that has to be changed. PM DavidB on the North Texas Forum. He might know where to get one.

Yes. It changes the speed reading electronicly. So MPH or KPH is all the same.

Dangerous box, I would assume that in order to reduce the kms your car collects you will have to reduce the km reading as well.

The AP2 tranny has a different secondary reduction gear that makes the first 4 gears seem like you have 4.3 final drive in the rear end. Just say you have 4.44 FD, that tranny would effectively give me a FD gear of 4.6 in the first 4 gears while keeping 5th and 6th quite highway driveable

TIME TO BRING BACK A DEAD THREAD!

Harry HOW ARE YOU!!! Still driving your S? I met you back at S2K Days when Gregg did this at your car.

and THIS at the rest of us.

WELL LONG STORY SHORT..........My S has a Birthday Nov. she will be 8!!!! Yes 1999 picked her up and now has 99K miles on it has 4.77 gears(LOVE THEM) and the same clutch since 33K. A bearing inside the tranny is on it's way out(most likely) and looks like best easiest way to do this is to just replace with a new tranny. And from this thread an AP2 might fit the bill. With an even shorter first 4 gears? WOW! Though a taller 5-6 which I would LOVE to have as I run about 4,500 RPM at 70MPH.

I have a call into Hardtop Guy to see if he can get me the parts needed. After reading this looks like he has done them but him being in OHIO is a little bit far for me to do being in CT. So the story goes what does a NEW AP2 go for and looks like you listed out all the extras that one might need to do the job. I would probably bring to a Honda Dealer to do the work(reluctantly though!) I would really like to get somebody I know that I could trust to do it.(and that maybe has done this)

Other thoughts?

I have the 4.57's and the AP2 transmission, and I wouln't go back to stock if you paid me.
I'm planning installing an AP2 tranny over the winter. Can't wait.

I'm just wondering if adding the 4.57 would be overboard. I do quite a bit of HWY driving on the weekends.

In what order did you do the 2?

I plan on doing the swap soon, I'd also like to change from 4.57 to 4.44 gears since boost makes the next gear come very quickly. (anyone want to pm for a trade?)

Is car-part.com pretty reputable? As in, when they grade a part as an "A" is it guaranteed to be in good shape and proper running condition?
