Default AP2 Motor running AP1 Ecu

Hey guys,

Just installed my ap2 motor a couple of months ago since My ap1 motor spun a rod bearing. My setup is a stock ap2 motor with 80k miles on it running a vafc(Default settings until i get tuend). Ive noticed when the car starts, the engine runs fine reving over 1k. Eventually when the car warms up, the idle rpm drops to 800 (790-815). During this time, it seems the car is a bit rough. Doesnt seem to be running smoothly. I wasnt sure if this was normal or if this was normal running a ap1 ecu on a ap2.

I used run a inline pro turbo so I'm not used to it reving that low since I had the fans hardwired and the car was around 900rpm at idle.

Also, on a side note, I saw this morning a small amount of smoke (greyish) at startup. My car doesnt have a Cat but dont remember it doing this when I was running the turbo. Just making sure the engine is ok since I have a 3 month warranty. Other than that, the car seems to run great.

Thanks for any help.

When I installed my 2.2L I was still using my 00ECU. The idle was normal. Yours could be as well since you are not use to the lower idle since you use to be Turbo. Also side note, do you have stock engine mounts? I had a friend who used the innovative stiffer mounts and had to up his idle to over 1K so it would stop shaking. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Can't speak to the smoke...

I actually have the stock engine mounts. Thanks for the update on your experience.

Small amount of grey smoke could just be condensation, it is Miami, it's friggin humid in the morning. Have you changed the plugs on the new engine? Engine with 80,000 could still use a tune-up, especially if that used engine has been sitting for a while collecting dust.

Adjust the throttle cable a bit tighter you might have left slack in it when swapping.
