ap2 motor in a ap1- running too lean.
hey fellow s2ki members and enthusiasts.
just recently on my way back from the city my rod bearing in my ap1 f20 block went as i exited the highway (engine knocking)
instead of fixing the motor i decided to replace it with an 05 ap2 f22.
-im running an ap1 with a 05 ap2 motor, ap2 diff. and an ap1 tranny/ecu
-after mounting the motor, took the car for drive seemed ok. after bringing it home turning the car off and back on, the check engine light came on.
-scanned the ecu and it showed - car running to lean. (too lean meaning more air then fuel in the combustion)*
My questions are..
-is it ok to run an ap1 ecu with a ap2 f22? ( ive read multiple threads about it being ok and wont need anything done for it to be a direct install, id figure prob not since the ecu is built for a 2.0 motor and not a 2.2- less fuel*.
-whats the best option to fix the *problem? tune/chip stock ecu will be good enough? aem ems? hondata?.. not looking to spend alot at the moment.
list of engine mods atm.
v2 intake
headers
70mm exhaust.
any help is greatly appreciated
thanks.

i installed an ap2 ecu but get a code that has to do with the immobilizer not working. id really like to keep the original ecu.
is it ok to drive the car how it currently is? without pushing it over 4k rpm.
please do expand on piggyback. what did you end up doing to yours? how did it work out?
thanks for the reply

yes apexi vafc and whichever wideband you can get cheapest, aem is good and cheap, check the sponsors on here (evasive) or can find wideband for about $150 or so shipped via google/ebay
yes you can run wideband, you won't be able to feed the input into the stock ecu, so you will need the gauge, controller and sensor, which should all come together if you but it new

If you take the car to the dealership they can reset the immobilzer for you. Some are even nice enough to do it for free. That way you can run the Ap2 ECU. Or you can dump abunch of money into a piggy back and widebands or whatever you wanna do. Your pockets
