ap2 drive shaft + Diff on a ap1?
Hey all, well my ap1 is starting to become noisy from the rear, i took it to the dealership and they told me i had to change the driveshaft (trans to diff) and the diff. from the research i did, the ap2 driveshaft and diff are much more better and more reliable from the ap1's. i asked the dealership yesterday if the driveshaft + diff on a ap2 can be installed on a ap1 without any modification or changing any parts. They said yes but some disagreed, so now im confused...

If you want to use an Ap2 diff with an Ap1 drive shaft you HAVE to change the flange on the diff that the drive shaft connects to. Most people connect the old one from the Ap1 diff its a very simple swap. OR if you want to use an Ap2 driveshaft you HAVE to change the flange on the Ap1 transmission to an Ap2's. There are more bolts on the Ap2 driveshaft and diff (12 I believe) and there are 6 on an Ap1. The easiet thing to do would be to change the flange on the Ap2 diff with the one on your old diff. You already have the part so you might as well utilize it. I'd post pics but I'm at work "woot woot Sunday overtime" and it won't let me on this computer. Maybe somone else could chime in with pics?

I'd be a bit skeptical about having to replace the driveshaft, what can go wrong with it ?. I'd agree with the axles as they do pit and cause vibrations, and diffs to go bad too. I would just re-think the driveshaft unless you know for sure something is wrong with it.

My axels aren't in bad condition, but my drive shaft is noisy I have no idea why, and my car starts vibrating when going more than 60. So I was thinking on changing the whole rear end and getting the hasport diff mount kit.
