Default AP2 Diff into AP1 tech questions

Sorry guys, i went back about 15 pages and found no info.

I am purchasing a AP2 Diff this weekend, and it is just the casing.
What i would like to know is if the AP2 Differential brackets that hold the diff to the car are the same
for the AP1 and AP2?

This is the part i am referring to.

I am also going to be changing out the companion flange (yoke) on the transmission side so i do not have to tear apart the diff. (I will also be purchasing a AP2 Prop shaft)

Can anyone please help me out with finding a part number, and what additional parts are needed? seals? etc.

This is something i would like to do myself, as my work schedule keeps me from shops etc.
Any info if this is something that is done from the outside or do i need to take off the tail end?

I did find out that a 27mm impact socket, and a wheel pulled will help.

#7 is the AP2 companion flange i need

All you need is #7.

All mounting brackets are identical 2000-2009.

Smart move not disturbing the pinion nut and getting an ap2 driveshaft.

I have that ap2 transmission flange if you need it. PM me.

Get new hex sockets for the propeller shaft bolts. Youll need 8mm for the ap1 and 10mm for the ap2.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but how did this turn out? I am in a similar situation and am exploring my options.

I have found a good bit of information on replacing the flange in the diff, but not as much taking this approach. Were you able to install it successfully? Did you follow any DIY?

Ive heard both, that you supposedly shouldnt disturb the nut on the diff without taking it apart and installing a new crush washer and also that it IS ok to swap flanges, reuse the nut and keep the same crush washer in place but make sure to achieve the same or a little more turning force when completed.

Either way, swapping the trans flange avoids all this. It's a bolt on a go piece. The only downside is having to buy the matching driveshaft.

There is no crush washer.

There is a crush COLLAR, and it is not serviceable unless you dismantle the entire dif.

If you do swap the flange on the dif, the turning force and load on the crush collar must be identically preserved.

Unless you are very proficient at dif building, do not attempt to disturb the pinion nut.

If you have questions about this procedure, then it is not for you.

Do you usually have to replace the driveshaft hex bolts as well as the prop shaft allen head bolts for new ones? Also is there anything else internally like seals behind the transmission flange that needs to be replaced besides converting to ap2 flange?

You do not need to replace any bolts or seals.
