AP2 2nd gear
Hello everyone, I'm trying to find out the max speed an AP2 with stock gearing will go in 2nd gear. I have searched and it looks like 56.5 mph at 8k. Would somebody confirm this for me please?
The reason I'm asking is that a buddy of mine mis-shifted 6th to 2nd at ~70 mph (was aiming for 4th) He only touched second gear for maybe one second max before he realized and then pushed the clutch to the floor. It looks like 70 mph in 2nd gear in an AP2 is right around 10,000 rpms if I'm not mistaking. Idle sounds fine and it didn't throw a CEL but my concern is that I may run into issues later down the road.
As a precautionary measure I was thinking about picking up a compression tester as well as pulling the valve cover to do a top inspection of the retainers to look for cracks. Anyone have any advice besides never letting anyone drive my car ever again

70mph in a stock AP2 is approx 9500 RPM.
As the AP1 retainers were built to handle approx 10,000RPM and AP2 retainers are significantly stronger (according to Billman), 9500RPM is nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Good idea about doubling the RPM I see at 35 mph in 2nd, SheDrivesIt. Why didn't I think of that. It sounds as if I shouldn't have to worry about internal damage but I am still paranoid about it.
I wonder if my local honda dealership would be willing to pull the max RPM for me? I didn't realize that our ECUs had any kind of data retension for something like max RPM.
