AP2 - '03 Slave Cylinder or Remove CDV?
A few years ago I drove someone's '01 and absolutely loved it.... Then a few months ago I got my AP2 and I was almost certain there was a difference in the shifting but I've always been dismissing the thought as my own stupidity. The '01 shifting was more responsive, and the engaging point was very close to the floor, which I LOVED!!!
Then I read some threads about how a simple install of the 03 clutch cylinder in my '05 should alleviate the "clutch lag".. I'm SOLD..... Then I also heard from somewhere that I can also remove the clutch delay valve (CDV) and it would have the same effect... I am aware of the warranty risks here... I don't punch it often... and I have 16,000 miles on it (and don't really drive it too often as it is not my daily driver)....
can anyone give some insight on this please??

You have an 05 so see here for some info on what may happen after having it in that long:

I removed mine on the 06 about 5 days after I bought the car so I have no issues.
There are people on both sides that say one way is better than the other. I personally think there is a reason for the shape/size/change in design for the new slave cyl. Honda wouldn't have done that if it wasn't needed. So I don't feel good downgrading my core parts to previous years.
We just had a CDV removal party here last week and I took out 4 CDV's in about 2 hours. The 5th guy had an AP2 with the 03 slave and he says there are no issues with it. Everyone can't stop raving about how much better their cars are now.
So it comes down if you want to get yourself a solid set of picks and spend a good hour cursing or take a chance with an older part.
Your call.

Remove the CDV it is really not that hard at all. You can get a set of mechanics picks from sears for around 8 bucks. Without a pick it will take you forever to remove the snap ring.
