Ap1 weird engine issue
I bought an 03 about a month ago, I'm the 4th owner. No wrecks, has all the vin numbers in the right places, new canvas top. Pretty nice car. But, there must be something wrong with it, 1500 miles so far, and it hasn't burned a drop of oil. :-)
I've been in VTEC a lot too. I changed transmission and rear axle oil, both looked brand new. I adjusted the valves, and checked the keepers, its all good. I'm just thrilled for 93,000 miles, it runs good.

I knew all the issues about the ap1, but, I wanted the quicker steering rack, throttle cable, no traction control, and 9000 rpm. My evo has a quicker steering rack than this thing, I'm glad I got the ap1. I'm gonna have to get an alinement, feels like its toed in too much and I'm getting feathering on the outside fronts.

I'd still keep your eye on the oil level. I find that when the dipstick reads at full or maybe a little bit above full its looks basically the same. So once your topped off you burn the same amount but there is a little more to drop on the dipstick to get below the full mark to notice your oil consumption. Basically the same effect as when you get a full tank of gas the bars don't drop as quick as they do when at a half tank, when in reality you aren't getting any better mpgs.
All il saying is keep your eye on it. And congrats on the car!

Oh yeah, I check it every few days, like I do most of my cars when I daily them. My TDI VW drank shell T6, but only sips Mobil 1 5w40. Evo x and ecoboost don't use any, but I check them all the time anyway.
Thanks!! It's really nice climbing into the s2k after a long day in the oil patch, driving 18 wheelers.

I seem to recall that the fast steering ratio in the 00-01 cars was slowed a hair as part of the effort to address the snappy handling. BTW, my '00 burn less than a quart of oil in 3K miles (except M1 which goes faster) and it is driven pretty hard.
