Because I had that check engine light problem where its giving codes for misfire, random misfire, and so on. And after numerous fuel injector cleaners and such, I cleared the light and wound up melting a piston when the injector failed.

A failed injector will usually just cause the motor to buck hard and not run properly. You will definitely be able to tell and usually get a lean cut before any serious load is applied on the motor, but it shouldn't cause a piston to melt.

I was driving pretty spirited down a mojor highway late at night, With no other traffic around. And as I hit 6th gear and accelerated, the car stayed steady. It didnt go any faster it just stayed at a consistant speed. I let off, Drove it home without any rough idle or noise. Parked it and heard it start piston slapping. Pulled the head a few days later and had a scored cylinder wall in cylinder 1.

The piston expanded, So if thats not considered melting, I guess it just deformed. It expanded enough to score both sides of the cylinder wall. Heres a few pics of what I found when I pulled the head.
Notice the problem? lol.
Good....
Not so good....

And finally....my solution to the problem (Besides switching to the updated banjo bolts)
