Default AP1 totaled - should I buy back from insurance?

AP1 with 96k in excellent condition. New top, new tires within last year. Seats are in good shape.

I was in a wreck the other day. No frame or engine damage. Both airbags depoloyed, headlight smashed, bumper cover and quarter panel smashed, and a few other things in that area. Insurance deemed car a total loss, said I could buy it for $3,000.

Thoughts? Seems like a good deal to me, but not sure if it makes more sense to part it out or just keep it myself as a track car or whatever.

I buy crashed cars from iaai and Copart all the time. I see ap1s with parts titles sell for anywhere from 2-3500 depending on damage and miles. If you have the money buy it back and part it out. It wouldn't be a bad idea I have seen people negotiate with the insurance companies and get their asking price lowered.

Yes buy it back. Keep the OEM parts available to the community, otherwise they just sit in a junk yard...

If I saw that car sitting somewhere with a $3000 forsale tag on it, I would buy it quick. I don't think I would part it out though unless there is some hidden damage to the frame rail on that side.

BUY IT BACK... is not that bad at all... fix it and track it... even parting it out you can make the double of their asking price... engine and tranny alone can go for 2,500 easy for a quick sale...

100% buy it back.

If I were your neighbor I'd give you 4k for it today

Its a track car, or its tons of good parts that you can make lots of money on, and people here really need them.

Many reasons to buy back. Not a single drawback.

I had a young customer with similar damage. He didnt understand buybacks and turnd down a great opportunity. his was 1100 BUCKS! When I told him I would have given him 4k and he'd have 3k in his pocket right now, he soon learned.

buy it back and either part it out or rebuild. If you do part it out i would consider your fender even though i really needed passenger side
