AP1 S2000, possible pending clutch issue..
2001 S2000 - Car just hit 100k, I've noticed the gears feel [slightly] harder to get into. The most noticeable difference now, is when you goto engage the clutch; you can just push the pedal down to almost the floor and not feel anything, then it's like an inch or so engagement point. When you let out, it's almost engaging off the floor.
The clutch I thought was just replaced, I may of been mislead; but does anyone have a diagnosis for the issue I'm having? It's starting to worry me because I mainly do freeway driving to DC/Virginia area and it failing that far away from home equals no bueno.
Thanks.

get under the car and check the transmission, there is a hard line (small tube) going to it. the fitting i think is 7.5mm or 8mm, something really small. disconnect and let drip into a cup or something. even better if you have somebody else depress the clutch, forcing fluid through, bleeding it and getting rid of air bubbles, when the flow is steady, tighten it back up.
the slave cylinder looks like that picture above, it's on the drivers side (usa) of the transmission.

i'd check under the driverside dash, look at the linkage that goes to the clutch pedal. where it contacts the firewall is where the leak usually happens. it'll look like a grey fluid dripping down. that's where the master cylinder leaks. replacement of the master cylinder is easy, from what i recall it's the two nuts holding the assembly, disconnecting the hardlines in the engine bay, and disconnecting the linkage.

I just checked the CMC, it was low on fluid. I filled it up and pumped the clutch and it engages/disengages now but still feels like it has some play in the pedal. I will have to try that this weekend, I'm hoping it doesn't come down to the clutch; the car has some miles on it (highway mainly) but isn't beat on. I appreciate the replies.

and yes there are a few drips coming from the CMC, so thats a definite.

you might wanna just do both master and slave cylinders at the same time to keep tabs on the car. with 100k youll need a new slave some time soon anyways so just do it at the same time to keep from having to bleed the system 2x. and also if the clutch pedal is still a lil loose after all is said and done the bolt that puts the master to the pedal is adjustable to make your pedal more tight or loose. just be sure not to make it too tight as you can keep your clutch from fully engaging if you do that. good luck!
