When the car is warm, and you push the clutch pedal down, do the RPMs change or engine respond to doing so? It shouldnt. When you push the clutch down, no change should be felt in the engine at all.

the original problem I posted about, which we still are yet to diagnose/repair, is bad idle, notchy shifting, power loss, oil consumption, and the motor sounds like its straining...
so far I've:
cleaned/whacked MAP
changed air filter
changed spark plugs
changed tranny fluid
changed diff fluid
checked coil packs
tested primary O2 sensor
tested cat
reset ECU
changed PCV valve
visually inspected vacuum lines
valve retainer check/valve adjustment
tightened throttle cable
cleaned IACV
cleaned throttle body
just a few days back i posted about a squeal I've been hearing, for the longest I thought it was the brake wear indicators on my rear brakes but I changed the pads and the squealing noise is still there. The squeal is very loud and sounds like its metal on metal so In my (non mechanically educated) opinion, id think this squeal should be chased down before the other problems.
sitting still, the car runs as it did with the original problems, bad idle and motor sounds like its straining.
you must have misunderstood what i meant..i didn't mean that wheel bearings, a driveshaft, or a diff would cause a bad running engine...i meant that one of those 3 may be causing this squeal.
