AP1 Question: Temp Gauge at start up supposed to be 8 bars ?
Hello,
I've tried searching through owner's manual as well as on s2ki, but couldn't find any pertinent information so here goes..
I currently have my MY02 S2000 with Hondata K-Pro. I noticed that upon initial turning of the key to "on" position, the temp gauge lights up..
What I'm not sure of though, is whether the temp gauge is supposed to showing full bars (i.e., all the 6 or 8 bars are fully lit up !), and stay that way even after starting the car..
For example, I'd turn the key, start the car and the temp gauge would be either full for morning starts, or display which ever temperature the car was last measured at (usually 3 bars).
At first this really surprised me so I'd turn the engine off even though I clearly knew that the engine is cold..
But later I realized that if I waited around 30 seconds to a minute with the car running, the temperature gauge would display the accurate temperature.
Is this normal ? Or is it a early sign of thermostat or some other sender giving up ?
