Default Ap1 oil consumption

I have owned my s2000 since january 2015 and noticed that it cunsumes a lot of oil. I know this is common for ap1s especially since I drive mine hard, thats the reason i bought it. Dont get me wrong though I replaced all the fuids when I got it and put on Koni yellows and dunlop zii star specs so I take care of it. Anyhow it has 50,000 miles and uses about 5quarts between oil changes (at 3000). I owb other hondas with vtec so I know it consumes oil but I'm sure this is more than average. I did a compression test amd the reults are as follows
#1 190 220 with oil
#2 205
#3 200
#2 205
This was on a cold engine as I forgot it was suppose to be at normal operating temp.
Now i didnt put oil in the others seeing how they were all normal and close to each other. Now would this indicate possiblybrings going out? And how is this on a car with 50k miles. This is only 8% off the others but it seems strange especially when i raised up so high witht the oil.

I think those #s seem fine to me. I just did mine and my cylinder 1 was high without adding the oil 235,213,219,219. Previously I had 235 on all 4, but I did a VA since then plus my engine was not hot, more warm by the time I got to the test. I am not concerned at all with my results, yours are similar.

Oil consumption does seem a bit high though, what oil?

On my old ap1, I would usually have to use about a quart or two between oil changes at about 3500 miles. I was religious about checking my oil level too at almost every gas fill up. So the amount you're putting in between changes sounds high to me, not to mention on a shorter interval. On top of that, my ap1 leaked oil a lot due to a bad valve cover gasket. As stated the difference between the cylinders is still in the appropriate range, but if you added oil to all of them and just that one cylinder had such a difference, then it is probably a ring going on that cylinder.

I feel like you're burning a good bit of oil, even if it is an ap1. Noticed any leaks?

Seems like a lot.

What type oil are you running?

My ap1 chugged dino oil, but modestly sips Castrol Edge.

5 quarts between 3k mile oil changes?? Yowza.

You sure? You'd likely see and smell the smoke and fumes from that. Try explaining your procedure for checking. Maybe there's something missing.

Have you checked for a clogged PCV valve? Is your breather tube going to the correct port?

That is a lot of oil consumption . I think if the engine is being murdered though then it may be normal . Try to drive it a little less aggressively and see if it slows down on the consumption . For reference my Ap1 uses 1/4 of a quart every 1400 miles with some vtec action and lots of highway driving . I attribute this lack of oil use to my driving style . Some burn more or less than others . Oil type plays here as well .

Thanks for all the comments, I i use mobil regular, but after some research im going to switch to castrol to see how much it helps, and i plan on going to the ap2 pcv setup soon, anyone got a valve cover? Ive only found newly painted ones for 300+ i just want a stock decent cover, I wouldnt say i murder it but i do autocross, and regularly hit vtec one or two times each drive, as far as smell it or see it no, theres no smoke or smell, it does turn my bumper black after maybe two weeks no washing, as far as checking it i make sure its on a level surface and maybe 5mins after it was up to normal operating temp i will post a engine bay pic soon, everything looks to be in the correct order

Again, switch oil type and see what happens.

Mine only had dino oil in it for the first few weeks I had it. I think that it I'd run it for a full oil change cycle, I would have seen consumption amount in the 2-3 quart range.

With Edge, I'm around 1/2 quart per 5k miles. Big difference!
