142k and change, turbocharged the last 8-10k miles boosting 10.5psi at 359rwhp. I also dont drive like an a$$ and the fastest I have taken it was been 120. Also have been to 1 autox and 2 1/8th mile strips while on boost. No issues.

Billman, where is this engine number listed?? Do you have pics of its location? I have read that it is somewhere underneath the intake manifold?

On the engine block by the cylinder head, by the front left corner of the valve cover.

It is also on a large white sticker on the timing cover. 50/50 shot of reading it there. If your car is clean you should be able to read it off the timing cover.

thanks Billman, were you ever able to compare the new style oil pump to the old style oil pump? I remember you asking what kind of conditions you should subject them to but I never remembered what kind of result you got. Also I noticed that you said that motors that were either supercharged or turbocharged you saw scoring on the #4 cylinder, do you think that would also be the case on early model normally aspirated ap1s that see the track regularly? It seems that it is a must if you are forced fed but not entirely if you are normally aspirated?

Thanks for the info billman. Question: What sort of symptoms do you see WITh a scored 4th cyl? Increased oil consumption? Oily spark plugs? Smoky exhaust? Or is it a silent killer..?

damn you HoA for not recalling this! My engine block sticker has worn off. And I cant get a decent look at the serial number due to the birds nest of wires. The vin# digits on my dashboard are 8386 and the the sticker in the driver side door jamb says it was "ltd: 07/2002" which im assuming is made in July 2002. I feel like ill lose sleep over this.

Have not seen a scored cyl on any NA car, even those that are tracked. The DECEL on the track has a cooling affect. It's sustained WOT operation that causes the failures. Somehow Forced Induction has the same affect, but you only need to do a WOT run for a short time.

Number 4 cyl failure signs are a metallic rapping sound. Quiet on startup, progressively louder as the car warms up.

Shut the car off while hot and check the compression, the #4 cylinder will have HIGH compression, due to oil flooding of the piston.

Get a long skinny penlight in there. you'll see your numbers.

isn't the production number part of the VIN number ? , on vehicle that has not had an engine swap ?
