Default Ap1 hesitating at 8500!

Hey guys! I'm really worried but let me explain everything first. This is my second s2000. Both ap1's my first s2000, had blown motor when I bought it. I took it to a shop and the f@#ked up and gave me a f22 head to my ap1 bottom smdh. And I didn't realize it till months later after the shop closed down. Smh I don't drive the s2k insane so I never really take it up to the limiter. The old ap1 had intake/exhaust. That was my first s2000. So now, I have bought another one, completely stock, 98k on engine, and this one unlike my first one for 1:

1: ecu and obd2 connections are on the passenger side (correct me if im wrong but I believe my first s2k those connections were on the driver side) the car is LHD by the way. Is that normal?? 0_o

2: when I take it up there it hesitates at around 85-8600 as if I'm hitting rev limiter. It sounds like it need a valve adjustment when idling. Could this cause that? (I don't believe so but I could be wrong)

3: I'm just really afraid that I have yet AGAIN a ap2 motor in my ap1 (which I don't want. I LOVE the f20c motor)

Am I screwed guys? And is there any way to check and see if I have a ap2 or ap1 motor in my car? ANY help would be appreciated!

check the VIN number on the engine. It will clearly say AP1 or AP2.

Sometimes high rpm miss is caused by a poorly seated MAP sensor.

Well besides the vin. That was of course the first thing I checked. I'm speaking in terms of a poorly done engine swap.

Pretty sure 00-01 ODBs and such were on passenger side, My 03 is on drivers side though.

If your valves are bad enough and making some noise up top, the knock sensor might be reading this as knock and pulling / cutting ignition? Does it just stumble and pulls slow at 8.5k or does it literally just STOP like you slammed into a wall and wont go past 8.5?

Idk if spark blowout is even possible on an N/A engine, maybe if the gaps were crazy wide, or hell maybe your spark plug tip melted/broke off like mine did one time.

Do a MAP whack and then zip tie that bitch back on there. Its a known problem that the Map sensor acts up when it doesn't have something holding it tight "like a zip tie" I was having hesitation issues before I zip tied mine, but that fixed it. If it was the map though, I would think it would happen randomly, and at different RPMs. More info is needed imo

Yeah true I have been reading up on the map sensor issues. But it don't do it randomly. And yes it feels like I slammed into the rev limiter (aka) a WALL when I hit 8500. But not nothing CRAZY just like as if I was hitting 9k it does that STOP/HESITATE thing where it feels like I tapped the brakes a little. And the valves I can hear the little tick tick tick when it's at idle but up top not so much, ill have to drive it and check. Oh and the car engine/oil are always fully warm before I try to rev that high. Imma check out that map sensor tomorrow and tie that bitch down tight! Lol

f@#k it, couldn't wait. I went out and checked it right now an yea it's on there pretty tight and the cable is snapped onto the top of the intake tube to stop extra movement. 0_o
