Oh man, from that video it sounds like you spun a bearing or something. Have you over-revved the engine before?

I doubt its the timing unless you have messed with it and just because its a chain doesnt mean the timing cant be off. It can still skip a tooth if the chain is too loose.
You need to find out for sure if its from the top end of the motor. If the noise is coming from the bottom end its possibly a bad bearing.

in my mechanical experience-


that sound is def. a rod knock.

if the sound goes away with a down shift-it is done by the vacuum in the chamber decreases load on the piston.





there is a small chance it could be a valve tick, but it is highly unlikely. if it is and goes away with adjustment, you are very lucky.


when was the last time you had a valve adjustment?






i hope i am wrong cause a rod knock would mean your block would need a rebuild.

rod knock is when the bearing in between the crank and rod has worn uneven and has been starved of oil. thus, damaging both the rod and the crank. its tough to say, but once you hear the noise-it has done enough damage requiring a rebuild for the block.


i hope i am wrong though because if this is true it may cost you.

yea, ive pretty much came to the conclusion that its a spun bearing also... its the only thing left... we check all valves, comp test (190 across the board), checked all the retainers.... i guess the sound is just resonating up and sounds like its coming from the head.... guess its time for a rebuild

add me to the knock list. sorry to hear it man. as soon as i heard that video thats what came to mind. on these ap1s you gotta stay on top of the oil. i check mine every saturday morning now.
