Its either going on the ground (leaking) or in the air (burning).
I once had a Chevy 350 V8 that burned approximately one quart every 25 miles. I was driving across the country at the time. I ended up renting a UHall in Kansas and finishing the drive with the car in the back of the U-Hall. I rebuilt it when I got back east.

I have an AP1 which consumed a quart every 2500-3000 miles on regular shell rosella. When I was using Mobil 1 synthetic it burned through a quart every thousand miles. I had a spare head laying around and rebuilt it with oem Honda parts. Since the rebuild 4000 miles on the current change and would say maybe down 1/8 a quart. Currently using shell rotella 5-30 synthetic.

That rate of usage --- the oil must have been burning and going into the atmosphere. If you leaked a quart of oil every 25 miles, you leave a nice trail on the road and prolly wouldn't be able to see the engine with the hood up. Just a big ball of dirty, yucky goop! What did your driveway look like after the truck sat overnight?

You must have had one hell of a smoke screen behind you on that trip. Guess the engine needs a rebuild when it burns more oil than fuel.

There was an oily slick on the windshields behind me.
I was young.
What can I say?
It was a chevy 350 I swapped into a toyota landcruiser. I should have rebuilt it before I installed it.
That car was a rocket ship. Talk about torque.
I lost interest in engine swaps after that one.

I'm sure Honda has done this. Thus, the AP2 engine with new manufacture procedures for the cylinders, new piston rings, new valve cover and PCV. I haven't heard of AP2 using different valve guide materials tho.

40 weight reduced my oil consumption too - I went from about 1qt/1500 mi. using 30w to 1qt/2500 mi.
