Default AP1 dies at idle, surges over 4000 RPM

My '01 AP1 has had an intermittent problem where sometimes the engine would stall in neutral.

i.e. driving down the road, coming up on a stop sign, put car in neutral, the engine dies.

I changed the spark plugs, changed the oil, checked my gas, (I have 3/4 a tank) cleaned the IAC module, reset the ecu, did the MAP whack, replaced the battery, checked the alternator but the problem still happens every now and again.

Well, today I was on the interstate and doing ~75MPH at over 4000RPM it was surging. Almost kinda bucking. To add insult to injury, it stalled once I got off the interstate, and once again when I pulled into my garage.

Is there anything else I can do? There is no check engine light, nor has one ever come on.

even with no CEL, the ecu can still be scanned for any stored codes. get that done first, then go from there.

Is there an over the counter one that will read them or must I go to a repair shop?

there are some over the counter ones, but some of the cheap ones go for around 150 bucks.

Could it be that your map sensor faulty? Maybe you can swap with another local s2k owner.
