I have talked to several users on the boards who have installed the AP1 ECU onto an 04-05 AP2 and not had any problems. Several say they don't take it past 8600 and rarely, if ever, hit 9k.

All have said the same in terms of power that it doesn't add more on a dyno instead it just allows you to rev it higher and shift into the power band where the stock AP2 will drop out of VTEC when shifted at or below the red line.

I dont see why you can't drop in an AP1 ECU and hook it up to a NEO/VAFC but when it comes to reliability it will come down to how hard you push the car.

However I am no mechanic so do so at your own risk.

If you want answers from multiple points of view, post in a thread (like you did) and keep the dialog open to help both yourself and others in the future.
I didn't think about it like that but I absolutely agree. So with a NEO or any of the other APEXI electronics it loses the settings once the ECU goes into correct something? Please expand on that, thanks.

Well, because it's a learning ECU in the S, the computer is always reading from sensors and adjusting to maintain safe operating settings. For exmaple, this is why when the weather changes dramatically our cars might take several days to adjust and learn the appropriate idle.

The changes you make with an APEXi unit will require you to reset the ECU on a very frequent cycle to avoid giving the computer enough data to undo the (hopefully good) changes you've made and counter-compensate make to factory levels and settings.

Does that clarify at all? I'm sure someone can step in with the specifics of each item that gets readjusted by the ECU. VTEC engagement adjustments might actually not be countered, but I can't confirm that off-hand.

I thought that if one tunes WOT, then one's settings won't be nullified?

You've exceeded my realm of knowledge and I won't claim to know that.

Someone else must though. Sorry I can't be more help.
