they have those cams for a reason from the factory.

the higher the RPM you revv to the more overlap you want. more overlap (generally) creates power up top. at 9K you need more overlap/want more overlap than at 8k. personally id say just buy some aftermarket cams if you really want some performance out of them

So it would be more beneficial for the F20C's to have an AP2 exhaust cam correct since redline is 9000?

The differences between the exhaust cams are really really minute.

no not really. this isnt a hard and fast rule.

you have to remember that cam lobe duration, lift and most importantly timing.

you can have all the duration in the world and all the lift you want, but on a vtec car, if they are timed so tehy ahve no overlap they will never make power up high.

lemme put it this way. if you were to tune your cams to the starter speed of the motor (like when you crank the car) you would tune out eveery ounce of oveerlap. you would have massive low end torque but it would disappear at about 2800rpm at the highest.

look at the position of the hi-vtec lobe and notice how its offset compared to the low vtec and then think about how the cams rotate in the motor and you will see what i mean about overlap (exhaust still closing when intake is just opening.
