AP1 9k ok?

Unhappy AP1 9k ok?

woke up this morning felt kinda hungry so i went out to eat on the way back home i thought to myself ' havent really got the chance to redline this thing yet so i gave it a try like everyone said ap1 revs to 9K so i tried as soon as i hit 9k the maint.req'd light started blinking.. is that a normal thing to an ap1 redline???

reset the light, probably a coincidence, if something happens, your check engine light comes on. 9k is OK!

9k is a ok, like stated above its ok just a coincidence. i hit 9k almost everyday. just fine

70K on the clock did i say maint. light i meant CEL light went on... sorry

blinking CEL = bad bad bad. do not drive, do not pass go. tow directly to mechanic.

steady CEL = take it easy and get the code read to see what might have happened.

ohh and i was wondering does it effect the performance of the car as in losing horse or similiar stuff like that..

the last time i had a blinking CEL, i forgot to connect a spark plug wire..lol (camaro) 7 cylinders and running fine till i got on it..then it started shaking like nuts, knock sensor went off....bad times.


blinking CEL = your engine might blow on ya.

if it's a steady CEL, and you notice nothing different about the car, drive it however you want.

If the CEL is blinking, you probably can already tell there's something wrong with the motor by a sound, how it's running, etc.

maybe since you haven't redlined it yet, you got a bunch of gunk moving and out of the cylinder slamming into the 02 sensor causing it to trip the code. I've seen it happen a few times (rare though)

If it's just a solid light, go to a local autoparts store and ask them to read the code, they'll most likely do it for free. They put it there for a reason, ignoring it seems like bad advise to me.
