Anyone using with liqui moly 5w40 oil?
Hi everyone, I am just wondering if anyone is using "liqui moly 5w40"? I have been using "10W-30 Mobil 1" but recently I got my clutch replaced by Tony and he recommended "liqui moly 5w40" but I am not sure if I should change it? He mentioned that Mobil 1 ruins the valves faster and I am not saying he is wrong but I wanted to see what all of you thought!
Thanks!
Thanks!

my only complaint with liquid moly is that it does not contain any moly oddly enough. I like oils that use moly within their anti-wear additive package, the more the better. Any oil with a decent additive package containing moly would be my choice.
The internet rumours and anecdotal opinions about Mobil1 never really mean much. I can't see how any oil would ruin a valve ?

It doesn't matter.
Just use any motor oil which matches up close enough to the recommended viscosities.
What is the actual question? Its just oil.

Like everyone else says, any motor oil is fine as long as it's a 30 weight. Fwiw, I've been running Liqui Moly 5w30 for the past 1300~ miles and the oil is still clear as the day it came out of the bottle.

Liqui Moly is well regarded here in Germany, the most succesfull oil brand. Nothing to Complain.
But i think Liqui Moly, Shell, Castrol, Mobil etc. are all comparable, top quality oils. Just buy the oil with the correct viscoity and spec.
@ zeroptzero: The name comes from their Moly Additiv, that was AFAIK their first product in the 60s/70s.
And i guess that 99% of the german customers dont know that this fancy english-sounding brand Name "Liqui Moly" maybe mean that there is some Moly added to the oil.
On the orher side, i never heard that people complain that there are no shells in shell oil...

I started using Quaker State synthetic in my MY 2000 from day one and still use it. From the 2nd oil change on, I've added Molyslip every second change. Always figured a little extra protection for an engine that spins to 9000 rpm is a good thing. I have a mechanic friend that uses Molyslip in all his motors, from outboards, mowers, Hondas, muscle cars, Swears by the stuff. The other reason I use it, is the S2000 is far from a daily driver and sits for extended periods of time (winter) without being started. Less chance of the oil leaving internals with no protection on startup.

I can recommend Motul 5W40 8100 Xcess. Proper good oil with a great additive package.
