Anyone PLEASE confirm the tranny fill bolt specs?
Hey everyone. My tranny has a stripped fill hole. There is some debate as to how it happended (I highly doubt I did this, and the car was in for tranny TSB awhile back . . . but thats another story). Anyways I sealed the bolt in there with some threadlock a while back, it seems to be holding. That is just a temporary fix. I found a hardware store that will order me a tap, it will take about a week to get it. NO PLACE seems to have it locally.
Anyways, I have been told by another member that the transmision fill bolt is M20 with a 2.5 pitch thread and that is the kind of Tap I'm going to order. Can anyone please confirm that is the size of the bolt? Mine is threadlockered into the tranny, lol.
PS: I plan to re-tap it, drain the fluid. Put new fluid in . . . then go drive around the block a few times, then change it again. Should this suffice for getting any aluminium shavings out from the tap? Regardless I don't think the shavings will cause any problems anyway since they are aluminium and not metal/steel, etc.
Thanks and happy Thanksgiving all!
