Anyone mess around the Vortech BOV?
I turn the BOV screw in about 0.25" and the vlave almost will not activate. For performance, should i turn the screw in or out? If there will not be and performance advantage from messing the BOV, then i will prefer it open a lot with a loud noise. Any suggestion screw in or out?
Can anyone tell me how does the BOV work? I think it helps more with a turbo than with a supercharger.

Then should i turn the screw all the way out or in or factory setting?
Why vortech put a filter on the BOV. If i remove the filter, will it hurt the engine in long term.

That's a fairly interesting finding john.
The screw on the vortech bov is to increase or decrease the peak leak pressure. You tighen this if you want to run higher boost on the vortech. With other blow off valve, you will need to replace the spring. When you take your foot off the accelerator, the intake plenum pressure is less than the pressure in the intake system before the butterfly. This pressure difference should open the BOV.
Doesnt your BOV opened at all during this period?
The filter is just to reduce noise and keep the engine clean by filtering any blow off oil.

Blow off oil???
Did anyone take out their BOV filter?
After i screw in about 0.25" from stock, most of the time i cannot hear BOV noise on the highway. So, i guess this setting maybe a little too much and the pressure difference cannot make the valve open???
I think the BOV does not affect our SC much than to the turbo.

yes I took the filter off before but I did not notice any oil.....doesn't mean that there won't be any though
the BOV is more necessary in a sc car than a tc car
so are you saying that your blowoff valve doesn't open at all after you played with the screw?

If you turn the screw in to a point, the valve will start not to open.
I will call vortech today!
I think the filter is for the CARB thing! But i vent the breather and the PCV to air anyway (My car is a solo1 race car now).
Honda9krpm,
how is your car running? Did you fix your crank bearing problem?

I taked to Vortech and they recommanded to unscrew the screw all the way. They also say try to keep the filter in place so that no dirt can get into the valve and the way they design has a big hole inside.

my car's bearing turned out to be fine
it's the 2nd bore that is slightly scratched from a spark plug failure
rebuilt is still pending due to delay in connecting rods from Pauter/AEBS
Will see high boost when done
So I may need to get another BOV from the sound of your experiment
Thanks
