Anyone just added new performance mufflers?
After reading countless posts about how aftermarket exhausts don't add any HP or 1-3 at most, or loose HP, etc.....has any one just added two new tanks? AKA bought two polished mufflers and had them welded on? They would flow better, look nicer and be louder....all the things I'm looking for, and that would cost $200 vs the $700 for a new exhaust.
Anyone done this with any sucess?

I've toyed around with the idea and did some research on it recently and found several threads where people replaced the stock mufflers with magnaflows stainless steel mufflers or other types. Do a search and use the key words "replacing mufflers" or "magnaflow mufflers".
I've also called a local shop in my area and it can be done at reasonable price (I was quoted $382 for parts and labor for 2 oval magnaflow mufflers and oval tips). The only problem for me is once it's done I'm stuck with it, unlike an aftermarket catback exhaust if I get tired of it I can go back to stock.
Hope this helps.
