anyone had stretched valves?

sounds like the retainers are cupped. this will impact the valve clearance.

It could very likely be that the guy thinks the valve and retainer are the same part. who knows?

this should be covered under warranty provided it is not due to abuse.

Wrong. retainers crack from being overreved.

can i assume that the retainers and keepers can be changed without removing the head?

they will remove the cam and rocker assemblies and do everything from the top right?

A cupped or broken retainer will NOT change the valve clearance.

Correct......retianers and keepers can be changed with the head in place.

Valve replacement would require head removal.

Do yourself a favor and save all the old parts.

only because honda's tool design requires the head to be off. snap-on sells a tool that doesn't require you to take the head off. need a link to it?

its not hard to change retainers with the head on.


just cause the manual says something doesnt mean thats the only way to do it.
