I've taken some temperature readings using a remote thermometer and the air temp at the intake does rise while sitting in traffic, but once you hit about 40 mph the air temp starts to drop back down. The heat shield definitely helps. I think that the sound is great, much deeper than with stock.
For me, living in Florida, heat soak is a problem in the summer but with high temps and humidity, I don't know that a CAI would fix heat soak. It may also help that my S2000 is GPW.

This is a good reference on what sorta improvements to expect. BTW, if anyone wants one but doesn't wanna pay full price, drop me a PM (Comes with a new filter as well). I have one for sale as I'm now using the J's Racing tsuchinko.

Check out the link is SSS01's post; looks like the K&N kit gained 4.6 ponies and a decent amount of torque. From the looks of it, the hood should seal the upper portion of the K&N airbox when it is closed. I'd have to imagine it is pretty similar to the Comptech kit minus the resonator, they both seem to get air from the same place. Anyone know why Comptech chose to use foam filters rather than cotton? From my experience, cotton has better flow patterns and is more effective at filtering dirt.

I know it looks open, but the hood closes that off when it is closed.
