Will you only see them once you take them off?
What would it look like from above? (Ie: Can only see a small portion of the mounts).
Also, looking at the innovative mounts, the pictures I've seen don't really match up to what the stock AP1 mounts look like...

My car has 69k and has some vibration issues and I was told the mounts are looking "suspect". I am supercharged so I have a bit more vibration then normal. This is a street/track/autox car, so I am wondering if OEM or the innovative mounts are better.

Repeated high RPM shifts puts stress on the mounts, downshifts do to. Even when mount breaks the steel travel limiter stops the mount from separating completely.
Lots of Honda's break mounts, Odysseys, Accords, Civics etc. A S2k with broken mounts doesn't let the engine hit the hood like a 98-02 Accord V6

i recently had the innovative mounts installed (red 60 durometer). they are noticable but barely. there is a slight buzz but you quickly get use to it. no regrets.

- also curious on what to look for - do they need to be removed to be inspected - or is it easy to check out from underneath the car.

Some people have reported seeing a puddle of water on the mounts when looking down through the engine bay (
Mine also had water in them but that's not how I noticed. While changing the clutch on a lift we tried to rock the engine to install the tranny and one of the guys noticed the engine rocked too easily.

Mine happened at 49k miles:
It was full of water too!
I only noticed it when I went to change my manifold (Header as you guys call it).
Jacked the engine up, removed the mount...oops - 2 pieces
Wasn't going to pay the $300 odd it would have cost me (Parts here are a rip-off) so I bought some Polyurethane sealent for $10 and repaired it - a trick I learned from my Civic days. Mount is now better than ever and I bunged on a Torque damper to prevent it happening again

I don't know about them leaking but I thought the proper procedure to check if they're bad is to visually and physically inspect for separation.
Otherwise on my IS300 I would pop the hood and hold the brake while slightly giving the car gas so it would inch forward and I could see the motor lift on one side indicating a bad mount. Not sure if that would work with a S2000 though.
