Any way to insulate a cat back?
I recently installed a cat back exhaust kit and would like to try and reduce the droning sound on the freeway. Is there a material or insulation of some sort I can put over the strait pipe to calm the noise down in the cockpit?
Thanks for any help...

Only material i can think of that will withstand the head is that tan colored braided heat wrap. Shits expensive but i put it in my headers for heat absorbtion and its worked great for that. Only thing now to find is if it muffles the sound. if youve got the 40 bucks or so to spend, i guess go for it because it the only thing besides a new cat or muffler that i can think of.

Ajjra,
I'd like to accomplish the same thing. I have some of that heat tape in the garage and have given it some thought. Only thing is I know it will insulate it, but I have doubts about reducing noise.
Might give it a try anyway if there is enough. Would you think that starting from the cat and going back to the Y would be the way to go?

I had the same situation after I installed the Spugen dual Ti. I tried adding back the OEM resonator to bring the noise down but the fit was too tight, I wanted to leave the Magnaflow on as well.
I installed an aftermarket flow thru resonator that would fit the space available and it did the job. It's much quiter at low end but opens up like it used to when I put the pedal to the metal. Still has that gargeling growl at idel which I love to hear.
