Thumbs up Any suggestions on cleaning system

Hi everyone,
After having to drill out my oil pressure sensor's threads (in block) and taping to a larger size, does anyone one have any recommendations on ensuring I get any metal shavings that might have slipped by my tons of axle grease (applied to "catch" the metal)? Also, if anyone understands the oil route behind the sensor, please explain... like does it just drop to the pan, or "post" oil filter... that kind of stuff, that might be able to set me more at ease when I first start it back up.

Once I've gotten everything flushed the best that I can, I plan on turning the engine over a few times with the sensor out (hoping to push any particles out). Of course draining oil and replacing a few times goes without saying...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Bradley

Rather than drill/retap the thread, I would have put a short length of braided line with whatever sized adapter required on the end. Provides vibration isolation as well.

As the jobs already done, Try and hook out any swarf with some thin wire, then crank the motor over with the coils unplugged to squirt out a cup load of oil.

The oil gallery behind the sensor goes from the oil filter to all the bearings and the head. Not a good place to have debris. You could remove the front timing chain cover as the cover blanks of the end of the gallery. Not a simple job but would allow inspection of the gallery and access to clean out swarf.

Good luck

Chris.
