Caution with a Torquestick, If you use one daily (in a shop) you will be replacing the drive motor in a impact wrench. The torsion bar effect has a nasty tendancy to rip the splines of the drive motor.
Good to know, though since I don't use it in a shop every day I expect I'll be OK.

Just a quick question. After I use the air compressor and drain the tank from the bottom drain bolt, is it okay to leave the drain bolt open so all the condensed water can drip out until the next time I use it? or should i be closing the drain valve after everything is out so that nothing can get into the air tank?

I leave the drain bolt open so that any temperature fluctuations won't cause condensation inside the tank.

Leaving the drain plug open is a matter of personal preference. If you do, the tank has to be pressurized up every time you need to use it. It won't be on "standby" to use at your convenience. If you have a problem with high humidity and water accumulation in an air tank, just crack the valve once in a while to let the water out. At work, we use air compressors to keep our truck's airbrake reservoirs pumped up and those tanks never get emptied. We have a weekly regimen of cracking the drain. Those things are pressurized up for years and years.

Right.. I open the drain and get about a cup of water out of my 60 gal. tank the first week of every month. And then close it and let it come up to pressure before I lose all the air.. it is way too inconvenient to wait for air every time I need it.

To answer original question...

AIR...Ingersol-Rand IR231 1/2" drive impact gun. It can handle double the recommended air, stands up to unrelenting abuse (such as not oiling it or greasing it). I've had mine for 11 years and never lube it. It get's used 20-30 times per week.

CORDLESS...The Milwaukee 18v is a good choice. You can zip wheels off, and zip them back on to about 50 ft/lbs with a quick blast. Then finish with the torque wrench...

Another plus: you can set the regulator to deliver full power when removing bolts, but barely turn over when installing bolts. Thus, you can start the lug nuts by hand (to avoid cross-threading), run them down with the IR231, and tighten them with the torque wrench. I think the regulator is one of the nicest features of this impact wrench.
