I heard about oil suction pumps that suck the oil out through the dipstick. This way you don't have to remove the drain bolt, and supposedly it gets more oil out.
New Mercedes and BMWs do this from the factory, IIRC.
So does anyone use these? If so how do you like it and what brand are you using?

I've never even heard of this, but I guess as long as the dipstick went to the bottom of the oil pan it might work, although I'd guess it takes longer than a conventional change.
I have always driven the car for 5-10 minutes before an oil change and that gets the oil warm enough so that 99.9% of it comes out when you pull the plug.

Yea, this way is just cleaner and easier to do at home. I want to know if its all hype or it really works.

I though about buying one of these too, it's a big container on wheels with a pump and when you pump it it creates suction and just sucks the oil out, I don't see why it won't work as the tube goes through the dip stick and down into the oil pan.

i've read a review...it doesn't do a complete job, because there are area's the suction tube cannot reach.
a regular oil drain however...all the fluid flows out.

It's certainly the civilised way to change your oil.
I took my mum's Merc to the dealer once as it had an oil overfull error on the dash. The tech inserted his dipstick (the car doesn't come with one), confirmed it was overfull, and inserted the vacuum lead into the dipstick hole and removed some oil. All without jacking the car up or getting down on the ground.
Personally I see a problem in using electricity to do what gravity is so willing to do for you.

The manual pumps only require you to prime them. Once it gets going it siphons everything else by itself. Throw a rag under the filter, and it's a very easy way to change your oil. It may not get every drop, but the 1/2 ounce it misses shouldn't hurt anything. My oil comes out crystal clear anyway.
