I had my car dyno'd. The 4th run (which is in red) is with the top of the lid off. It actually gained 1lb-ft. This is with a bone-stock AP2 with 28k miles.

That is an air resovior. It helps prevent a negative pressure surge when you crack the throttle.

you people with the dyno videos dont realize that with the hood up and a fan blowing air at the engine bay, the hot air can escape a whole lot easier, dyno tests arent 100% representative of real world driving conditions.

Billman said earlier that when you run it side by side...you will be slower with the lid off.
if your car is stock, do a test run with another stock s2k...with your lid ON and OFF.

^Not trying to be a smartass, but thats how. This topic, like many other topics, has been beat to death on this forum, it basically comes down to the fact that warmer air going into the engine=less horsepower, also, the stock intake is so well engineered that you'd be hard pressed to find an aftermarket one that added more than a few horsepower, if any, most actually lose a few.

this topic is sooooooo beaten. modding, removing, replacing the factory airbox will give you one thing:a nicer sound and the good feeling that you "modded" something when you go to
at night
