any long term negatvie effect with glass top on 01??
i want to get a glass top (02 model and up) on my 01.
the guy at the converitble shop say he can do it BUT it really risky.
the insurance and his shop won't be responsible for it.
People with this done to their car, have yall experience any problem with it?
would yall say do it or no??
need to know asap to reply back to him

I don't see why it is that risky at all. I've done the swap on my '00 and had no problems with the top. The '02 model tops fit on to the '00-'01 frames perfectly, the only thing they have to do is add some elastic straps to the '01 frame to make it open and fold correctly.
Over time, the straps may stretch a lot and not be as tight as when you first install them, but you can always reinstall new straps when the old ones wear out.
Recently, i picked up a complete '02 frame and soft-top combo. All i had to do was uninstall the old '00 frame and soft-top and install the new one. Everything fits perfect and works perfect.
I would do it, i love being able to look out my rear window and see clearly. Plus i installed a defroster to my new top!

There should be no reason that an '02+ top would give you any trouble provided the installer is competent.
That being said, I prefer the larger window even if it is plastic. It looks pretty easy to see out of to me

I agree, you do have to do the window maintenance early and keep on it because it's much harder to deal with once it's gone bad.
BTW, did you get my email about getting your membership# into your S2KI store account?
