Any harm in running 5w-30????
The place I get my oil changed only stocks 5w-30 Amsoil. Will it hurt anything to use this, or should I have them order 10w-30?????
Thanks

I've been running 5-30 synthetic for 20K miles, since my first oil change at 2800. The subject has been argued here exhaustively, with many different opinions. The argument for heavier oils seems to be one of film strength under high-rpm conditions... the counter argument is that synthetics have orders of magnitude greater film strength that conventional oil. (In fact, that's the reason you're not supposed to use synthetics till the engine is fully broken in -- the extreme strength of the oil will actually prevent break-in!) So I see Honda's 10-30 recommendation as being a conservative one based on lowest-common-denominator dino juice, but unnecessary for synthetics.
