Default Any experience with Tein RA

Hey guys ,

Please feel free to opine here if you have experience with this coilover.

Tein RA's sprint rate is F 559lbs/in and R 559lb/in. The stock spring rates of 2002 is like F200lbs/in and R280lb/in or 290lbs/in. So I guess the Tein will shift more weight to the rear and tame the rear end a little. LMK if this assessment is correct or not.

Thanks!

Tein RAs are great for the street or track. I've had mine for about 15K miles and have no complaints (well, I would like a little stiffer springs actually). For autocross you should be fine with the stock setup and maybe KG/MM race if you want to go an inexpensive route. For road courses, the latter will fade and the shocks will go after 10-15 min.

This ugly beast has Tein RA's..... i have never looked at them to see the spring rates.... i did have the car corner weighed and aligned and have not really touched them since.... so far it has been about 15 races worth with no problems yet.... i even have the Honda-challenge record at summit point for fastest lap (had it for VIR but got dq'd for passing under yellow).

not sure if that helped you, but I bought them used for about $1100.

How about stiffness though? The spring rate is like almost 300lbs higher than the stock ones. Don't get me wrong? I don't mind the stiff suspension on good roads. But in Boston? That's another story. If the suspension is too stiff, the car will be bouncing up and down off the bumps and potholes and the tires may not have good contact of the road.........etc. Especially driving on my 18" tires, it may be downright dangerous.

i had these bad boys for my daily driver...i can say that for daily drivign esp in the city areas dont keep them anywhere near full stiff...u will not be happy and neither will your girlfriend...hahahahaha

for places that dont have huge potholes and dips u will b fine...

i remember when i had them on almost full stiff going to NYC...hahahahaha....i was like damn!!!! so i then lowered it to 4 clicks on front and 2 rear....near all soft..and this was much better for daily driving in city areas

Does anyone notice the Tein RA setup makes the car more neutral. I mean less incline to the so called "snap oversteer"?

You know, Tein RA has equal spring rates, front and back, instead of the stock spring rates which is rear biased. Theoretically, it should shift more weight back to the rear.
