Default Any alternatives to Blackstone Labs for oil analysis?

I'm approaching my first oil change. Over a month and a half ago I filled out Blackstone Lab's form on the internet for a free test kit. I called a couple of weeks ago and requested one. I still have not received a test kit. Is there an alternative to Blackstone Labs in the US that can provide just as good information?

The other one I am aware of is Dyson Labs. Look around over at http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi and you should be able to find information on them.

I send mine to the big dogs - Quaker State or Pennzoil. They have excellent labs - I have seen some bizarre results and analyses from Blackstone. The analysis kits are available at Pennzoil distribution centers - or check under Oil Companies in the Yellow Pages.

Amsoil also offers oil analysis via a subsidiary - Oil Analysers - cost about $15 including sample bottle, packaging and shipping.

Another great one is Polaris labs. They can have results for you online or via mail or fax. Here is the web site

I did end up receiving the test kit from Blackstone. Here's a link to the results for anyone interested:

I bought a case of 10 kits from my local LE guy and the price was quite reasonable, less than $15 each including shipping.

The format is a little different than Blackstone but covers all the same stuff, plus it includes acid & base measurements, which I think are helpful in determining the oil's useful life.

Yeah, modifry is right - I am thinking about getting on LE's program as well. They use Polaris Labs.
