Another s2000 engine rattle thread (with video sound)
Hi there.
So some context regarding the engine rattle:
Engine idles perfectly fine, no engine rattle or any weird noises when it’s cold start.
The rattle only comes when the engine is at operating temperature during idle only.
If you rev it or slowly increase RPM, the noise goes away.
The noise is more prevalent on the header side of the engine (noise is still there with stock headers), or when under the car coming from the sump. Have checked if headers are cracked/loose bolts, no dice.
Can someone help with reviewing the video and letting me know their thoughts? Oil level is perfect too.
Cheers

Forgot to mention, have also taken off the serpentine belt, replaced the bearings for the idler and tensioner bearings. When the serpentine belt is off, the noise is there about 10% as opposed to 90%, hence why I changed the bearings but still has the rattle there

I would have imagined it would make it more challenging to identify but I’ll give that a shot and upload when available

Thank you for your patience.
Please see video attached as requested. Front of the car, hood closed. I did some further investigating, unplugging coils 1 and 2 make the sound completely go away if that helps.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can provide

Also done a tonne of research using the s2ki forums, this is as close as to what mine sounds like this from another thread:
There is also a lot of threads saying it’s normal and have driven tonnes of miles but I just want to be 100% sure, since no one has been able to find a fix or disappear from the forums/remove their video
