engines and oils have come a long way that's why everytime you go buy oil it becomes harder and harder to pick which one to get. the old thinking of changing the oil every 3k is not neccessary but it won't hurt the car either.

10 years ago Mobil had regular and synthetic now they have 5 different oils plus the different weights.

I changed mine with 23 miles on the odo when I got home from the dealership. Threw a magnetic drain plug in and changed it twice more at 500 and 1000. now I'll change it every 2k until I can put mobil1 in at ~8-10K miles.

wow. just wow.

you do realize that if you change your oil TOO often/soon that you can damage your cat, right?

you changed it twice within the first 1000 miles. so much for the molybdenum that was in the factory oil. And now every 2000 miles? Unless it takes you 6 months to drive 2000 miles all I can say is wow. And I feel bad for whoever buys your car after you.....

All this display of lack of knowedge, and yet you question the other information I provided in another thread? hmmm

This word precisely describes the "maintenance" routine on your S2000.

LOL...love "the link" to google.

If you read the manual, it said that you should change your oil when you can't see any oil on the dip stick.

Yes Stratocaster is correct.

In the Helms manual it suggests waiting until you have 2 out of 6 qts. left before changing.

The magnetic drain plug had metal shavings on it at the 500 mile mark. I am happy that I got that out of the motor. When I changed it at the 1000 mile mark I had almost none on the plug.

I don't claim my way is better, I'm just expressing my opinions and letting people know what I did concerning my oil. That is why we have a forum. I expect more from a Moderator (W2K) and not lash out at people with lil emoticons bangin' heads on walls.

Whatever, dude. We're just tired of the periodic new players showing up and giving obviously bad advice that is contrary to the advice of the people who designed and built the car.

Advice from Honda has been pretty clear. Don't change the initial fill out too soon.

Can we vote people off the island?
