Default Another Oil Question: For '06 S

Hey Guys,
Just want to get your input on oil. The dealer and the manual says not to do the initial change oil until the oil reminder comes up. They say that it has special additives to help with the break in.

Is this true? Would it hurt the engine break in if I do the oil change at 3000 miles?

Currently I have 3000 miles and my oil reminder is at 50%.

Oil guys please chime in.

I waited till it came down to about 40% and drove around a tad bit longer. That was about 3200 miles.

Here is the conditions if that helps any:
Daily Driven in Las Vegas's weather (90-100 degree most days)
1 1200 mile road trip
2 days on track at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch
And a handfull of autocrosses.

The interval is not just based on milage, but time as well.

just leave it in til it says to change it. and don't use synthetic (if you're going to use synthetic) until after 7500 miles.

The maintenance minder system monitors oil life by the operating conditions of the engine has been run in.

You can safely change the oil and filter when the oil life indicator starts flashing at you on start up. (10% going IIRC)

They dun't want you to change the oil till the light comes on so they can claim low maintanence costs.
