Another battery question
Exactly two weeks ago, and after a lot of consideration, I decided to replace the OEM Panasonic for a Yellow Optima since the OEM was not retaining the charge for more than a couple of days.
Today I went to work and parked my car at 2:45pm without realizing that I had left my lights on. At exactly 4:55 pm I got a call from the someone in the parking lot informing me about the lights still on. When I went to my car I went ahead and turned the lights off but when I tried to start the car the battery had no charge. Had to jump start it witha coworker's car.
Is this normal for a brand new battery?
Lights on...two hours and ten minutes and the juice is gone?

From what I've been told, batteries off the shelf come fully "dry" charged and this is not the same as fully charging it via the system in the car. Depending upon how much you drove during those 2 weeks, it may or may not have acquired adequate charge to allow HIDs to be on for 2 hours straight.
The proper test is a "load" test. Go to a place like Pepboys, Autozone and have them do one. OR, you can do your own load test. When you think you battery is fully charged again, turn on your headlights for 30 minutes, then try and start it. If it starts, this is a rough indication that it's OK.
